These are the steel posts we use to support our heavy-duty Fort Knox Mailboxes.
Our 57" in-ground posts and 32" and 36" surface mount posts are designed for Fort Knox Mailboxes that require a strong, durable mounting solution.
Can you use another post to support a Fort Knox Mailbox? Sure. But if you want the best security, strength, and long-term durability, our steel posts are built for the job.
The post is sold separately from the mailbox and is bolted from underneath using carriage bolts. Once installed, the hardware is secured inside the mailbox, which means it cannot be removed unless you have access to the inside of the locked mailbox.
These posts are also ideal if you ever move and want to take your mailbox with you, instead of pulling the entire steel post out of the concrete.
Our posts are made from 10-gauge square tubing, which is approximately 1/8" thick. The in-ground post is designed to be buried in approximately 2 feet of concrete. Our surface mount posts, also known as "break-away" posts, are available in different lengths to help meet postal regulations. This post style is for bolting to existing concrete slabs or sidewalks.
The size of the steel post and hole pattern is determined by the mailbox model:
The Bunker Mailbox:
2.5" x 2.5" post with a 5" welded steel plate and pre-drilled holes
The Enforcer Mailbox:
4" x 4" post with an 8" welded steel plate and pre-drilled holes
All Larger Mailboxes:
5" x 5" post with a 9" welded steel plate and pre-drilled holes
