Flag & Outgoing Mail Option
Some of our mailboxes — The Bunker, The Enforcer, Large Standard and Vaults — are considered “Limited Service” Mailboxes, meaning they are designed primarily for incoming mail only. All other mailboxes have the flag included.
However, if you occasionally prefer to send outgoing mail without having to make a trip to the post office, you can add our Flag and Outgoing Mail option to the above models.
Each mailbox model features a flag sized and built to match its design:

The Bunker: 1/8″ thick flag

The Enforcer: 3/16″ thick flag

The Large Standard: 1/4″ thick flag
All flag hardware is securely welded in place, and the flag is mounted with stainless steel fasteners and rubber washers to resist the elements and withstand years of use and abuse.
How it works when you add the flag and outgoing mail option:
Underneath the incoming mail slot, a small outgoing mail slot is created that is approximately 3/8" - 1/2" tall. It allows 1-4 average sized envelopes to fit. Be aware that your outgoing mail will NOT be locked up. Your mail will wedge in this slot and will be slightly exposed for the mail carrier to see it, grab it, and go.
If you upgrade the lock to the Slam-Lock, there is no need to have the slot added. Your outgoing mail can be left in the mailbox, as the mail carrier will have access to the inside of the mail when the door is left ajar. The flag will notify the mail carrier that mail will be inside of the mailbox.
